What is Guarana and why does the body need Guarana

Guarana is known as a stimulant and is considered an alternative to coffee or tea. Guarana has an invigorating and stimulating effect. Guarana is said to provide an extra energy boost when exercising, for example. But guarana can also release additional energy in everyday work.

Guarana grows as a vine that belongs to the soapberry family. It originally comes from the Amazon region, where guarana seeds have been used as medicine for centuries. It is the valuable, small red fruits that contain bitter-tasting seeds that are harvested. These guarana seeds have five times the amount of caffeine of a coffee bean. However, unlike coffee beans, guarana seeds only release their caffeine gradually because it is bound to tannins. In order for the caffeine in the guarana seeds to be released, these tannins must first be broken down in the body. This means that the caffeine in the guarana plant is present in our body for up to six hours and can therefore have its effect for much longer than the caffeine in the coffee bean.

3 grams of guarana powder dissolved in water corresponds to a caffeine content of approximately 150 milligrams. 50 to 200 milligrams of caffeine correspond to 1-4 cups of coffee. This amount is considered safe as a daily dose.

The caffeine contained in guarana seeds helps to improve concentration, performance, alertness and attention, starting at 75mg. It also improves short-term physical performance.

Can I meet my daily needs through food?
