Benefits of Rosehip
The rosehip is rich in valuable ingredients that make it a sought-after ingredient in dietary supplements and cosmetics. Here are some of the main benefits:
1. Vitamin C content: Rose hips are one of the richest natural sources of vitamin C. This vitamin plays a crucial role in supporting the immune system and collagen formation.
2. Antioxidants: In addition to vitamin C, rose hips also contain other antioxidants such as flavonoids, carotenoids and polyphenols. These help neutralize free radicals in the body and thus contribute to protecting cells.
3. Mobility-enhancing properties: Rose hips have been traditionally used to support mobility. Studies suggest that certain plant compounds in rose hips may support the properties.
4. Supports skin health: Thanks to its high content of vitamins and antioxidants, rose hips are also used in skin care products. Rose hip oil, for example, is known to moisturize the skin and improve the appearance of fine lines and scars.
5. Promotes digestion: The fiber in rose hips can support digestion and help maintain normal intestinal flora.

History of the Rosehip
The rose hip has been used since ancient times. In Greek and Roman culture it was valued for its properties. The fruits of the plant were used to make teas and ointments to relieve various ailments. In the Middle Ages, the rose hip was grown in many monastery gardens and was an important part of herbal medicine.
During the Second World War, the rose hip experienced a renaissance in Europe because citrus fruits were in short supply. The rose hip served as a valuable source of vitamin C to compensate for the lack of fresh fruit. In Great Britain, it was processed into syrup and distributed to children to ensure their vitamin C supply.
