How do muscles work? The 1x1 of muscles

A muscle consists of a complex network of muscle cells, also known as myocytes. Myocytes are specialized cells that are able to contract and thus enable movement. The main components of a muscle are proteins, water, mineral salts and other organic molecules.

Muscle structure and growth:
Muscle tissue: Muscles consist of muscle fibers, which in turn consist of many myofibrils. Myofibrils are protein-rich fibers consisting of actin and myosin filaments. These filaments are responsible for muscle contraction.

Sarcomere: The sarcomere is the functional unit of muscle contraction. It is the area between two Z-discs and contains the actin and myosin filaments.

Muscle proteins: Proteins are crucial for muscle growth and repair. The most important proteins in muscle are actin and myosin, which are responsible for contraction. Other important proteins are tropomyosin, troponin and titin, which regulate muscle contraction and elasticity.

Muscle growth with the help of proteins:
Proteins are the building blocks of muscle tissue, and adequate protein consumption is crucial for muscle growth and repair after intense training. During strength training, muscle fibers are stressed and damaged, causing micro-tears in the muscle fibers. To repair these tears and strengthen the muscles, the body needs protein.

When you consume protein-containing foods or supplements such as spirulina, your body provides the necessary amino acids that make up muscle proteins. The amino acids promote muscle repair and muscle building by rebuilding and hypertrophying (enlarging) damaged muscle fibers.

Spirulina as a source of protein:
Spirulina is a microalgae and is considered one of the most nutrient-rich plants in the world. It is rich in protein and contains all the essential amino acids that the body cannot produce itself and must therefore obtain from food. Spirulina is an excellent source of protein for vegetarians and vegans who may have difficulty getting enough protein from animal sources.

The protein contained in spirulina can help support muscle repair and building, especially when taken after exercise. In addition, spirulina also contains other important nutrients such as iron, magnesium, B vitamins and antioxidants that can contribute to overall health and performance.
